ENOLOGIST JOBS
In charge of the wine quality assurance lab in order to meet ultra-premium quality standards.
- Routinely performs quality control procedures, including bottling, and keeps records of QC and QC routines and procedures.
- Coordinates the purchase of supplies and the logistics linked to the wine production activities.
- Assists in administrative requirements (bulk wine inventories, internal wine movements, label and BATF regulations, etc.).
- Assists with safety compliance
- Help to build and maintain team spirit in the production department.
Maintain a clear, open and positive communication and information flow with the Winemaker.
- Crush and bottling duties as assigned (e.g. pump overs/punch downs, fermentation monitoring, scheduling)
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
- Bachelor's degree in Enology or Fermentation Science of Chemistry/Biology
- 3+ years current wine production and laboratory experience (analysis and quality control)
- Good understanding of wine chemistry
- Acute attention to detail
- Knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of winemaking operations and winemaking technology.
- Ability to coordinate and document workflow
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a team with co-workers and perform duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with and in support of our company values & culture
- Strong organization, problem-solving and analytical skills; able to prioritize workflow
- Some experience in supervising or leading others, desirable
- Self-starter, self motivator
- Computer proficiency in Excel, Word, and E-mail. Knowledge of AMS a plus Languages an advantage
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs
- Ability to work in cold cellar temperatures (55 degrees)
- Ability to pull, push, reach, bend, kneel, stoop and sit
- Ability to help move hoses and equipment in the cellar
