Technical Manager
(Quality, Milton Keynes Operations)
Do you have the depth of experience, passion and drive to take responsibility for all areas of Quality at our Milton Keynes manufacturing site? Reporting to the QESH Manager, part of European Supply Chain Operations this role manages a team of six direct reports (Quality Co-ordinators, Lab Analysts and Microbiologists)
Job Purpose:
Be the site expert in Quality and Food Safety and implement Quality and Food Safety policies and standards to ensure the site continues to meet requirements and improve efficiency.
Key responsibilities:
1 Define standards for quality testing, working with Manufacturing and Distribution to ensure product quality & food safety.
2. Ensure effective Quality and Food Safety practice in relation to new product development and formulation changes.
3. Lead the team, providing the vision, direction and support to enable them to deliver their objectives and optimise performance.
4. Manage cost control of agreed budget lines and report performance
5. Manage consumer and supplier complaints to ensure branding is maintained
6. Champion site safety policies and best practice to guarantee zero accident behaviour
7. Optimise use of Energy, water and production of solid & liquid waste
Qualifications: Graduate or graduate calibre - ideally with chemistry/food technology qualification
Skills and experience
People leadership and management
Coaching and development in a manufacturing/distribution environment
Food factory experience preferable
Knowledge of legislative and risk management processes
Quality analysis techniques, quality testing methods and technical lab expertise
Investigating customer/supplier complaints
Language skills: Proficiency in French, Dutch, Norwegian or Swedish useful but not essential
Travel: Under 10% predominantly GB / Europe
